Work in Taiwan - Follow Me: Helping International Talents Build Their Careers in Taiwan

As global talent mobility increases, how to attract and retain top international professionals has become a key issue for Taiwan’s industrial development.
To address this, the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) held the “Work in Taiwan - Follow Me” Career Briefing and Adaptation Program at National Cheng Kung University on December 6, 2024, and March 5, 2025. By integrating the 'Work in Taiwan' talent matching platform, the event created a warm, meaningful, and effective space for international talent exchange and career preparation.

Linking Job Opportunities × Creating Long-Term Support for International Talents

To help international master's and PhD graduates better understand career opportunities in Taiwan, we invited local companies and industry speakers to present job openings and share insights about corporate culture. We also offered a customized adaptation program to improve understanding of Taiwanese workplace culture and communication practices, and included practical Chinese language training to help participants adjust more quickly to the local work environment. IT IS NOT just a one-time event—it was a chance to create lasting impressions and real impact for international talent in Taiwan.

From Cultural Understanding to Practical Job Readiness: Opening Dialogues and Job Connections

On December 6, 2024, a career briefing was held at National Cheng Kung University. Local companies were invited to present their hiring needs, accept resumes on site, and engage in face-to-face discussions with students. In addition, international alumni currently working in Taiwan shared their personal experiences in job hunting and adapting to life in Taiwan.
Through this event, students not only gained a clearer picture of Taiwan’s industry landscape, but also began shaping their own career paths through direct interactions with HR representatives.
To further support them, we invited career development professors to give workshops on Taiwanese corporate culture, workplace etiquette, interpersonal communication styles, and practical Chinese for the workplace. These sessions provided insights that go beyond what students typically encounter in academic programs, and the enthusiastic participation from both students and instructors reflected the value of real-world preparation.

Building Connections—Sometimes It Starts with a Phone Call or a Cup of Tea

During and after the program, many students stayed in close contact with our team. They reached out for career advice, resume feedback, and even shared bits of their daily life. In return, our team provided ongoing support through job-matching resources, phone calls, and messages—walking with them throughout their job search journey. Over time, many of these students became more than just participants; they became friends.

From Connection to Employment: Letting International Talent Shine in Taiwan

「Work in Taiwan」
For us, these two events were more than momentary exchanges—they were the beginning of long-term support and trust:

✅ We have successfully helped international master's and PhD graduates find employment in Taiwan

✅ We have provided resume coaching and job referrals for hundreds of students

✅ We are building a positive cycle: “Study in Taiwan → Work in Taiwan → Grow roots in Taiwan”

“Work in Taiwan” is not the end—it’s just the beginning. Looking ahead, we will continue to work with universities and employers, and further expand to student associations, international student centers, Chinese language institutions, and job banks. Our goal is to provide meaningful training and job-matching platforms so that more outstanding international talents can stay, thrive, and shine in Taiwan.

This is our promise to Taiwan’s industries—and our invitation to talents around the world.
